how to have a birthday

Finally -- a break! This past month has been crazy busy as you can tell by my lack of posts...

The best part about working at a University is being able to have a solid TWO week break, no more work til the New Year for both of us! I'm so looking forward to our First Christmas as husband and wife, and some much needed relaxation time in Florida.

But first things first, my handsome hubby just celebrated his 23 birthday!

We went to Bahama Breeze which is one of Kevin's favorites :)

First, we ordered the Coconut Shrimp for an appetizer.
Second, Kevin tried the Aruba Red while I just stuck with my Ultimate Margarita

Thirdly, we went to see The Hobbit, which was THREE long hours of time sitting in one chair feeling stiff as a board! But it was a great movie :) Kevin loves Lord of the Rings so we plan on having a marathon before this break is over.

I think Kevin had a great birthday overall. He received the best present from his wonderful wifey -- new football cleats for Playmakers. He's gonna be a  beast down in Tampa  :)

I'm so grateful we'll get to spend the rest of our lives celebrating our birthdays together.

Mines next!

Now we are just waiting for Santa Clause to arrive for our First Christmas!
I'll blog more about that after the holidays!

Merry Christmas!

Mrs. Foster

how to throw a party

One thing the Foster household knows how to do is throw a party. This weekend was the epitome of party party.

Step 1: Fried Chicken Date Night.

Some of our good friends Chase and Macy came over for dinner on Friday night and we had no idea what to cook. First challenge, we didn't have a lot of time and I'm still trying to expand my little knowledge of recipes. Second challenge, Macy is a lot like me and is really particular about what she eats, so we knew we had to make something simple that everyone likes.

Mistake number one, I let Kevin choose and cook dinner. Nah, it really wasn't that bad (we ate it for leftovers yesterday), but it was definitely a 'man's dish'.

We made Homestyle Chicken Tender Bake. As you can see, its a combination of mashed potatoes, Publix fried chicken tenders, corn, and chicken gravy. Put it in the stove for 30 minutes and cover with cheese. It was an experience to say the least.  We knew Chase would enjoy it but we bought extra chicken tenders just for Macy :)

The rest of the evening we just sat around and talked for hours, we really needed that. We are so grateful for these two in our lives and we all agree we are what each other needed at the right time and the right place. I love how God does that. They are getting hitched next summer and I love hearing all the wedding details falling into place.

We made her try the dinner and this is her hilarious reaction!

Step 2: Georgia Bulldawg Madness.

Watching the SEC Championship Georgia v. Alabama was already on my list to do, and Kev and I briefly discussed having a few friends over to watch the game. However, a few became several which became a party in like 2 hours! You should have seen us we were scrambling all over like 2 hours before the game, trying to get stains out of our apartment (which pinterest is awesome) and running to Walmart for more food. I was excited yet nervous because our apartment is a one bedroom tiny little space and we were about to have a fiesta!

Everything ended up working out great, except for the final score :( but we managed to get 15 people in our tiny apartment and plenty of food for everyone. I'd say it was a success (the party part). Too bad our bulldawgs lost the game by a 5 second difference. We were pretty rowdy though, hopefully our neighbors don't hate us too much!

Step 3: Zombie Tradition.

Every Sunday we've hosted Walking Dead parties at our home, and this week was the Mid-Season Finale! Its usually me and a bunch of guys (and Macy) and I'll feed them dinner before hand and we watch it together. This week I made Chili in the crockpot, which was Yumma. Sometimes I'll make sweets for after.

Last night's episode was so intense! I mean the show is already pretty gruesome and gory but it was so intense last night. And as per usual on Sunday nights now I have this intense nightmares that usually wake me out of my sleep five minutes before my alarm. At least I'll have a break for a couple weeks until it returns in February!

Result: Exhausted Monday Morning.

We had a really great weekend! The best part is that our house is still really clean, which makes me happy :)

We are party animals what can we say?

Sincerely yours,

Mrs. Foster

how to honeymoon

Yesterday was such a  gloomy and gray day all I could think about was how much I wanted to go back on our honeymoon, or at least on vacation! Kevin and I even looked up cruises wishing we could get a cheap one to the Bahamas next month!

We had the amazing opportunity to spend our first week of marriage at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico. It was the most relaxing week of our lives! After all the stress of the engagement and wedding, it was awesome just to relax in the warm sun and hang out with my best friend :)

Our room was awesome, it was so spacious and had a nice semi-private pool right off the back patio. There were hammocks all over the resort and nice big pools with swim up bars and it never felt overcrowded or noisy. It was mostly honeymooners or couples celebrating their anniversaries so we didn't feel too out of place. Besides the fact that everyone either tried to speak Spanish to me or when we told them we were on our Honeymoon, we always got some version of 'Ohhh, but you're so young.."

The resort had seven different restaurants so we got to eat something new almost every night. Of course our favorite dish was at the Hibachi Restaurant and being from the good ol' South we loved their FRIED ICE CREAM. Yumma. But I think both of us will eat almost anything fried :) We both also took advantage of free room service at anytime of the day or night including any type of drink. We drank so many Strawberry Daquiris its insane.

Our last couple of days were great, we spent all day in a cabana bed on the beach with our own personal waiter who kept calling me 'Mrs. Foster'. Hearing my name being called that for the first time made me feel special and at the same time old. It was like suddenly I grew up over night and now I'm a Mrs., still feels really weird.

By far this was one of the best trips, we've been on together. (and we've traveled together a lot). I would love to go back one day, maybe some special anniversary :) But for those of you getting hitched in the near future and looking for honeymoon spots... All Inclusive is the way to go! Everything felt free! Drinks, food, service, and you can even pay all tips ahead of time so you can relax and not worry about carrying around your wallet. Nice time.

Sincerely yours,

Mrs. Foster

how to get married

Kevin and I got married on September 2, 2012.

It was a perfect Sunday evening wedding, just three days before our 3 year anniversary and Labor Day Weekend. Lucky for us we'll always get a day off around our anniversary. We got married in downtown Lawrenceville, Georgia in an restored cotton warehouse. I loved it.

After 8 months of being engaged it was our long awaited perfect day and neither one of us could have had a bigger smile on our face. We had family and friends come from all over the country and we were so grateful, such a fun day. Now, three months later we are beginning to adjust to this married life, but I can tell you I fall in love with him more each and every day.

You know after planning for so long and planning with so much detail, its hard not to notice when things didn't exactly fall in place like I wanted, but it wouldn't have been a Foster wedding without some funnies. Like when my sister who is four years younger caught the bouquet and my dad ran out on the dance floor to throw it away, or when he added Kevin to the 'Circle of Trust' picture included (which still hangs on our fridge), or my fifty five year old aunt was doing the 'wobble' better than everyone on the dance floor. It was such a fun night, I would love to experience it all over again.

My bridesmaids slash best friends played  a big part in making this day special for us too. One of my bridesmaids, Amelia even let me walk down the aisle on her birthday! I really don't deserve the special ladies in my life, I'm forever grateful. I can't wait to pay them all back on their wedding days :)

sincerely yours,

Mrs. Foster

One of my best friends and fellow blogger, Jordan, who inspires me in more ways than one featured our wedding on her blog, check her out for more pictures from our special day!

how to start a blog

Do you know how long it took for me to come up with a name for this blog? Starting something new is always the hardest part. Sure, its exciting and sometimes exhilarating, but sometimes its scary and uncomfortable.

Well, everything is new for the Foster family. In the past year, we have experienced more transition than I ever thought possible. From college graduation, moving to a new city, new job, starting a new semester, finding new friends, going on a honeymoon, experience living as one in one very cozy one bedroom apartment, we know all about new.

So I thought, maybe starting a blog would help us... and those far away from us... keep up with all things new. It's funny how writing something down, or blogging about the funnies in our lives makes them real and possibly familiar.

Plus, Kevin really wanted to start a blog.

sincerely yours,

mrs. foster
